Condition
Plantar Fasciitis: Symptoms, Causes & Regenerative Treatment
Sharp heel pain — especially with the first steps of the day.
What It Is
Understanding Plantar Fasciitis
One of the most common and most painful foot conditions is Plantar Fasciitis which is characterized by sharp pain in the bottom of the foot and heel and hurts most when trying to walk following a period of rest. Many people experience foot pain when they get out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or in the morning when they first get up. Getting out of the car after driving is often painful as well. With Plantar Fasciitis, it is common for the foot pain to subside once a person is up and moving around and can appear fine until they sit for a while and then attempt to get up again. Instinctively, people try to stretch or strengthen the feet and calves and attempt to get inserts and better shoes.
The reason Plantar Fasciitis comes and goes but never seems to go away completely is because there is a point in time when this broad ligamentous type of tissue becomes a chronic, degenerative condition called Plantar Fasciopathy. The Plantar Fascia breaks down leading to the inability for it to accept and transfer loads and our body is unable to heal the tissue like it normally would.
The reason our Plantar Fasciitis program leads to significant pain relief and return to full function is because we use an advanced tissue regenerative technology known as Softwave. This premium brand of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy recruits stem cells from our body’s own bone marrow, builds new blood vessels, and heals and regenerates the damaged Plantar Fascia. Shockwave technology signals our body to heal itself again.
Symptoms
What You May Be Experiencing
- Stabbing pain in the heel with the first steps in the morning
- Pain that returns after standing or sitting for long periods
- Tightness through the arch of the foot
- Worse pain after exercise — not during
- Tenderness when pressing on the inside of the heel
The Problem
Why Traditional Treatments Often Fall Short
Cortisone shots, ice, and night splints calm symptoms for a window of time, but they don’t repair the degenerated fascia underneath. Once the medication wears off — or the inflammation cycle restarts — the pain returns. Orthotics offload the area but never restore tissue health.
Our Approach
How SoftWave® Helps Plantar Fasciitis
SoftWave® shockwave therapy delivers focused acoustic energy into the fascia, increasing local blood flow, recruiting the body’s own stem cells to the injury site, and triggering a true regenerative response. Most plantar fasciitis patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 sessions and avoid surgery entirely.
FAQ
Plantar Fasciitis — Common Questions
How long until I feel relief?
Most patients notice softening of morning heel pain within the first 2–3 sessions. Full tissue healing continues for 8–12 weeks after the treatment series.
Is the treatment painful?
You’ll feel a strong tapping sensation, but it isn’t painful in the way an injection is. There’s no anesthesia required and no downtime afterward.
Do I have to stop walking or running?
No. We ask you to avoid heavy impact for 48 hours after each session, but normal walking, work, and most daily activity continue throughout the program.
What if I've already had cortisone shots?
SoftWave is still effective and is often more durable than repeat injections. Many of our plantar fasciitis patients come to us specifically because shots stopped working.
Baxter's Neuropathy
Entrapment of the inferior calcaneal nerve under the heel — often mistaken for plantar fasciitis.
